WORK

SPEECHWRITING

Kari internalizes a speaker's natural voice when writing. She has produced speeches for national political events, national and international conferences, and even helped speakers shape testimony for the United States House and Senate.

This speech developed for National Nurses United (NNU) Executive Director Bonnie Castillo, RN, was delivered to nurses across the country at NNU's 2021 convention. It called for union nurses to fight for a culture based on care, not profit. The speech preceded a panel featuring renowned scholars Silvia Federici and Robin D.G. Kelley, who spoke on the devaluation of care work in our present culture.
Kari worked with NNU's government relations department and Registered Nurse Response Network to help shape this testimony for Cathy Kennedy, RN, a vice president of National Nurses United. Cathy addressed members of the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee on how the lack of electricity and energy sources post-hurricane Maria affected public health in Puerto Rico, as witnesses by RN volunteers.
JOURNALISM,
GHOSTWRITING

Kari has chronicled everything from the last moments of dying Covid patients — to what it's like to be on the front lines of Standing Rock. She has covered labor in recent years, but she also has a background in arts and culture. Her ghostwritten pieces have been published in national outlets. Contact her for further samples.

PRESS WORK,
MEDIA TRAINING

Kari has prepped speakers for major interviews, including for breaking news and during a crisis. She knows how to write a great press hook and has crafted releases that get national and international overage. She's also been a press contact for media everywhere from strike lines, to national political events, to over the phone during Covid.

Kari has prepped speakers and interfaced with reporters for countless major stories, including those at the following links:

NONPROFIT

Kari's storytelling prowess enables her to get to the heart of a non-profit mission. She's used this skill to craft written work for clients such as an environmental education center, and an education research non-profit.
ADVERTISING

A Ford executive once said of Kari's work, "You made me care about the independent rear suspension." While she has moved beyond her early years writing auto ad copy, give Kari a concept. She can unleash the power of brevity.
ACADEMIC

Kari is a rare writer who can wrangle both short copy—and academic theory. She spent four years working with the Institute for the Study of Knowledge Management in Education (ISKME), in part helping to hone research papers for publication.
